A New Way To See The World.
As of February 2, 2025, Auroratpye fonts are now availible mainly through our new domain (this website). All fonts from the old website will still continue to work for the forseeable future.
We decided to make this change because the structure and layout of our old website was getting too complicated for our designers and engineers. All of the APIs and font files from the old website will continue to work. This new website is dedicated to the Auroratype library exclusively. We may add the fonts from our other foundries in the future.
Auroratype is an independent typeface foundry based in central Massachusetts. We often modify and distribute previously existing open source fonts. Our goal is to make every font as good and inclusive as possible, which is why our releases of the fonts contain an improved and expanded character set. Most of our fonts only have the Latin script with some minor inclusions of other scripts. Some of our fonts do have support for Cyrillic and/or Greek.
We started out as a small one-person project in late 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the fonts modified at that time have been scrapped due to some copyright concerns. In early 2022, we merged with other brands like Auroracolor to form an over-arching entity called the Aurora Group.
After this merger, we went out of commission for a while, in favor of the more fleshed out Evermore Type Foundry. In mid-2023 the Aurora Group absorbed Evermore Type Foundry and gave us control over their font collections, including Safonol and Education Fonts.
All of our fonts are released under the Open Font License (OFL) and are free to use with our official API. Currently, we do not have a mechanism to let users download our fonts individually, but we are working on a system.
